What sun, salt, and humidity do to finish around Uvita — and how to protect it so it lasts.

Three finish killers on the coast

Hard UV, salt in the air, and constant humidity. Sun oxidizes clearcoat; salt reaches basecoat through micro-cracks; humidity speeds rust where filler was not sealed.

First-year care

Weekly wash with neutral car shampoo; avoid “quick shine” silicone that traps contaminants; wax every ~3 months with carnauba or synthetic. First 30 days after paint: no pressure washing or wax while clearcoat cures.

Materials built for coastal life

In the shop we run Roberlo and BESA systems with UV inhibitors and salt resistance — the same class of system OEMs specify for cars sold in coastal markets.

Early warning signs

Patchy gloss (roof and hood first), micro-cracking in clear, whites shifting yellow or reds shifting pink. Address it early with a touch-up and you often avoid a full respray.
